Running since 1961, this program is based in Varanasi due to the cities ethnic, religious, and linguistic diversity, which reflects the diversity of India at large. Both a modern metropolis and a major pilgrimage site on the Ganges River, Varanasi offers its inhabitants, including the participants in this program, access to a variety of religious communities, as well as the beginnings of Jainism and Buddhism.

Structure and freedom combine in the academics of this program, which takes advantage of the unique society Varanasi offers, allowing students to study what they wish, which providing the support they need. Students enroll in both Hindi language and culture classes, and participate in both individual and group tutorials, as well as craft an independent research project.
