Located 90 minutes west of London and 15 minutes from Bristol, Bath is considered one of England’s architectural treasures. A five-minute walk from students’ residences leads to the Roman Baths or the famous "Royal Crescent," one of Britain's great architectural sites, as well as galleries, museums, tea and coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, and music of all kinds. The River Avon runs through the city, offering an ideal place to row or jog.
Advanced Studies in England (ASE) is a liberal arts program designed for US undergraduate students, based in central Bath and associated with University College, Oxford. Students benefit from small classes taught by distinguished British scholars, many of whom are faculty members at Oxford. Students select four 4-credit courses from topics in the liberal arts, including English literature, history, political science, medieval studies, philosophy, classics, and education. In addition, internships, service opportunities, and student teaching placements available to further enrich students' experiences.
