ACADEMICSFairfield University, a Jesuit institution, is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, which accredits schools and colleges in the six New England states. Students attending the program will receive a Fairfield University transcript.
enjoy homestays with Nicaraguan families within a 5-minute walk to the
UCA campus. Residences and families are carefully selected on the basis
of strict standards, and every attempt is made to place participants in
homes with a UCA student. Breakfast and dinner will be provided by the
host family, and a stipend for lunch on campus will be available through
The semester will begin with a three-day orientation, during which students settle into their homestay. The program is geared toward introducing students to Managua, the UCA campus, as well as getting them acquainted with key faculty, staff and students at UCA.
program is open to all students who are in good academic and social
standing at their home institution, and who can certify a grade point
average of at least 2.8 or more on a 4.0 scale. Students must have
completed at least two years of college level courses. Participants
should have second year knowledge of Spanish language. The program is
competitive and applicants are expected to be mature, independent and
have seriousness of purpose.
