The Program
The Dublin Internship is now entering its 13th year and continues to be highly competitive. Research has shown that students who have experience international study or employment during their university education are much more desirable to future employers. The two-month Dublin program offers students practical international work experience with opportunities for personal exploration and professional connections, all whilst being supported by full-time BC staff on site.

Program DatesDublin Internship

Arrival in Dublin: Saturday, June 2, 2018 (by 1:00 PM)

Departure from Dublin: Sunday, July 29, 2018

Internship Placements
BC Interns are placed throughout Dublin’s diverse fields of employment by BCI staff. Selected applicants will work 35-40 hours per week at unpaid internships. Successful candidates will be those who are clear about their interests and goals. There are no placements in hospitals or laboratories of any kind.

Please note that applicants are required to have at least completed their sophomore year in 2017/2018.

Students will be billed for summer programs via their Agora account in early May, and payment is due prior to departure. Any questions related to billing should be directed to Student Services.

Three separate costs are billed to Agora: Dublin Internship 2
  • Program fee ($4,400)
  • GeoBlue international health insurance ($100)
  • Enrollment fee ($45)
Students are responsible for coordinating and paying for their own travel to Dublin and budgeting for meals and personal expenses not covered by the program fee. Details on housing and meals is included below.

Please consult our Summer Finances & Scholarships page for additional information on program costs and funding opportunities.

Housing and Meals

Students will live in apartments on the University College Dublin campus, and will also have a rich social and cultural program, with designated time for personal travel. While a small number of meals are included, students will have access to a kitchen in their campus apartments for cooking. A 24/7 on-site coordinator will also be available to all BC students.

As a complement to the internship, all students will complete a one-credit course, which will consist of guided cultural reflection through frequent, informal written assignments.

*Please note that, per Boston College policy, only one internship may be counted toward graduation requirements. Any additional internships will be recorded as enrichment only.
