Program Description:
The University

Sogang University is a Jesuit institution that was founded in 1960. Today, it is one of the leading private universities in Korea, with approximately 13,000 students and more than 21 departments. Sogang’s excellent reputation in education has been well earned by its highly qualified faculty. In addition to its regular course offerings, the university also offers Korean language training for non-native speakers at the Sogang International Institute of Lifelong Education.

The Sogang University campus includes a modern gymnasium and sports facilities, a growing library, and an active student-life center.

The Boston College program at Sogang University offers a unique opportunity to study at a prestigious Jesuit institution in Korea. It is of particular interest to students specializing in history, political science, management, international studies, and Asian or Asian-American studies.

Students with sufficient Korean language proficiency may enroll directly in regular courses at Sogang University, while students with no language background can enroll in a Korean language course and a selection of courses taught in English.

Dates
  • Fall Term: Starts in late August and ends in late December.

Accommodations

Students live in either single or double occupancy dorms at Sogang University. Breakfast and dinner are included. Housing information is available here.

Boston College students are required to reside on campus at Sogang University. 

Meals

Two meals a day are included in the dormitory fee. Additional options are available on and off campus. Note there are no kitchen facilities for preparing meals in residence halls. 

Cultural Activities

Through the Student Union Hall, students can join a number of student interest clubs and volunteer service clubs. The International Student Fellowships and Hands Up for Gathering (HUG) are two examples of clubs that aim to promote interaction among international and Korean students.

Information
Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Students who arrive on the designated arrival date will be offered airport pick-up service. Instructions on submitting your airport pick-up form to Sogang University will be included in the acceptance packet.
